Shakti Bliss had several holiday events in December that filled the decks with Christmas Cheese!

December 2nd was the second annual Chicks with Decks Naughty or Nice Party. Check out these photos and reviews by Chazz Gold here.

December 10th Shakti brought some Christmas Lounge to the Yoga Blend Studio in Burbank for their annual Holiday Party.

And on December 17th was the grand opening of the Fire Groove's new dance studio that hosted a Holiday Bazaar with some high fashion and hip friends.

Miss Bliss closed out the holidays by celebrating MY BIRTHDAY with close friends and family.

LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE has announced a special engagement at the historic Downtown Palace Theatre in Los Angeles on two nights this fall, Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22.

The world renowned avant-garde electro-dub cirque has been invited to reopen the newly restored venue on its centennial anniversary. The Palace will be the container that holds the magic for the LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE coming together for Los Angeles' Bringing Back Broadway celebration.

Hey kittens!

If you haven't noticed, there has been a bit of MIA action on the Shakti Bliss blog lately. I wanted to catch you up on the haps, because there have been a lot of exciting changes in my life. You too?

The biggest news is that I MOVED TO LOS ANGELES! Yup, to the City of Angels. After spending 8 years in the sweet quiet countryside of Southern Oregon I felt an undeniable calling to move to the big city, and Hollywood is what happened. I grew up here, I vowed after becoming a hippie that I would never move back, but after 16 years here I am, and it is the best move I have ever made. Why?

Collaboration. The juice is thick in LA. Hollywood is the place where dreams happen. The artist community in LA is all about going BIG, and I like that. My light is needed here. If you have any judgements about LA, then you know what I mean. I am on an angel mission, spreading bliss whomp wherever I go, and its working.

I've been picked up by The Cruz Coalition, a DJ/event production team based out of LA and am starting to gig out at various events at Area 33, an underground Burner-esque membership only venue that throws lots of all night parties.

I also have been blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with the illustrious circus company LUCENT DOSSIER and have fallen completely in love with them. Yup.

San Francisco still owns a piece of my heart. I visit often and had some great gigs around Valentine's Day at the Art of Love Ball and at my favorite underground bi-monthly in the city: BEATCHURCH!

So keep your eye on my event calendar, as I am not finding time to post info about every event I gig at on my blog page.

The other news is that my sound is changing. You know I am a bass junkie, but I am finding that it is time to raise the BPM at bit, just as the consciousness is raising around the planet. I still love dubstep, the feel good re-edits and mash-ups you will often find in my mixes, but am blending in more uptempo house/electro into my sets. In fact, depending on the venue, you may be surprised to hear an entire set of electro-swing 125BPM bumpin gypsy style all night long, with my unique Shakti Bliss twist on it of course. I hope you can keep up with me?

There is also an exciting side project brewing on the back end....stay tuned!

Now you know. Thanks for all the love and support! Mixing music and sharing my bliss is a dream come true. Ascension is on. Lets do this!

I am excited and delighted to be performing with Liquid Fire Mantra this year!

We offer Ritual Theater Performance utilizing fire arts, mask dancing, LED, theatrics, modern dance based choreography and intentional community rituals. Ecstatic Bellydance is an ancient and modern sacred dance which awakens the bodies natural wisdom and ecstasy. It is a meditative and expressive form of bellydance that integrates many years of study in dance, yoga, and tantra. We will begin with transformational yoga practice and go through basic Bellydance repertoire including isolations, taxim, and shimmies based on sacred geometric patterns and symbols. Then integrating these movements, we will journey through the body combining movement with breath, sound, and intention to create an embodied ecstatic experience.

Afterwards we will have time to socialize and enjoy raw food snacks while DJ Shakti Bliss spins some down temps beats for us.

Now you see how I feel about it all...pure unadulterated BLISS!

A few days before the show I was out at brunch with Lorin Bassnectar and Tommy Cappel. There I was, this budding DJ sitting there with two of my favorite artists (with Random Rab in tow), and the boys ask me a silly question: "So Shakti, what kind of music do you play?" She blushes profusely and hides behind her fan. "Uh....YOURS!"

Guess they never thought there'd be some hot chick spinning out their beats with a fire staff, flogger and a statue or Saraswati on stage? Go figure.

DecaDance...a delicious evening of sacred erotica and fat sultry beats in Ashland, Oregon on January 30th, 2009.

My yummy girlfriends who produced the event encouraged me to DJ and bring the Shakti behind the decks. Wow. Seeing that I actually had never DJ'd before and had four weeks to bring it, I dove into Ableton Live with all my heart and soul and poured it out in oozilish waves of bliss onto the dance floor. What you hear here is my very first production!

If you have ever seen me on the scene dancing, most likely making love to the wall of bass speakers or up on stage, you'll have an idea of the flavah I added on top during the show.

How many times can we celebrate the New Year?

Well, on February 6th we did it in a BIG WAY at Folsom 1015 in San Francisco, California!

Four stages, a phenomenally wicked line-up of my favorite artists (check it HERE) and the infamous MIDNIGHT RITUAL of which I was honored to be a part of with members of "Venus in Velvet".
